For Mother‘s Day - and Father‘s Too
If we are lucky enough to have a mother and a father, most of us remember them - especially on their respective days. But now it could be time to go beyond cards and flowers
We all owe a deep debt of gratitude to our parents for creating us in the first place, then for supporting us and our (possibly!) strange ways through the years.
Remember that you do not need to spend mega-bucks on flowers (always more expensive at this time of year), chocolate - or transitory gifts - to make a lasting impression. Something straight from the heart will often have the best results.
A hand-made card, a letter listing all the reasons you love her, a promise of doing a certain chore that she finds difficult - car cleaning, for example. Resolve to spend a few minutes thinking about what personal gift of time would mean the most to YOUR Mother.
Even if you have already ordered her a gift costing money, what could you do to spend more TIME with her? Just spending extra time with people can mean so much, in these hurry-hurry days.
And of course if you happen to be reading this AFTER Mothering Sunday, no need to feel you missed the chance! The gift of time can mean even more when given unexpectedly.
If your relationship with your parents is less than ideal, why not use this period of Spring and new beginnings to start again, and let go of any old resentments?
If you are a parent yourself, it never hurts to use this special time to check out your OWN priorities. What will you do so that your children, of whatever age, look on the relationship with more affection? Do YOU give enough time to them? Do you treat them with the respect they deserve? These things work both ways!
Coaching and NLP can provide an excellent springboard for moving forward in a new positive manner.
